The lovely landscape of the countryside surronding Treviso is dotted with many ancient villas historic heritage of the the Serenissima Repubblica di Venezia. Summer residence of the aristocratic venetian Foscarini family who started building this villa and the nearby barchesse (storehouses) at the end of the XVth century it soon became a compulsory stop for famous guestscondottieres and kings on their way to the enchanting Venice. When the Repubblica di Venezia eventually fell the aristocratic Revedin family left its venetian residence and once they became the owners of this big estate they started cultivating the nearby land. They were the first who introduced modern and innovative productive systems and who provided their farmers still living in decaying casoni (rural thatched houses) with confortable houses. Abandoned in recent years by the formers owners it became in the 70's a renowned hotel and a famous restaurant.
